Hello everyone!

Here’s a safety tip I’ve been meaning to share with you all! If you are ever thrown into the trunk of a car and cannot call 911, kick out the back tail lights and stick your arm out of the hole. Then, wave like crazy! The driver wont see you, but everyone else will. This has saved lives!

You are welcome. Stay safe. ❤

Hey everyone!

I was wondering around YouTube and I found this educational video, by Walt Disney about a woman’s menstrual cycle?! I think the most shocking thing is that this was made by Disney, additionally it’s a little shocking that it was banned. I mean, sure it references some “older” opinions of a woman’s role in society. For instance, while we are on our periods it is SO important for us to continue to look “pretty” so we can feel “pretty”. I’m sorry, but when you are feeling gross and moody as hell, making yourself pretty for the sake or prettiness is… stupid. Really, all we want is chocolate ice cream, solitude, and pajamas. well, maybe that’s just me? XD Overall though, I thought the video was quite educational and actually a lot more informative than a lot of our “modern” takes on women’s cycles. Watch it and make your own conclusion, if anything you might get a giggle or two out of it. I think Disney has put out way worse then this and how did they came up with the idea to make this anyway?!

Ciao!

Hi everyone! I found this super cool recipe on how to make bourbon balls at http://www.brit.co/ Great party appraiser idea or movie night snack! When I first came across it, my initial reaction was, “whaaaaat? Okay, we so have to try this!!!” What? I like balls. 😛 What do you think of this recipe? Check out the full article by Alexis Monson

Ingredients:

  • 14 cinnamon graham crackers
  • 1 cup walnuts
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/4 cup natural or bittersweet cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon freshly grated ginger
  • 3 tablespoons honey
  • 1/2 cup bourbon

Toppings (Optional):

  • crushed Fruity Pebbles
  • crushed graham crackers
  • sprinkles

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F. Toast the walnuts for 7 minutes. Let cool.

  2. In a food processor, grind the graham crackers to a dust.

  3. When the walnuts are cool, grind them in the food processor, but not so much that they turn into a paste.

  4. In a large mixing bowl, combine graham cracker dust, ground walnuts, powdered sugar, and cocoa powder. Grate ginger on top, and stir to combine.

  5. Stir in honey and bourbon. You might have to use your hands to get the honey and bourbon to fully incorporate.

  6. Using your hands, roll the dough into one-inch, bite-size balls.

  7. Once you’ve rolled all the dough, grind both the graham crackers and the Fruity Pebbles in the food processor, separately. If you want bigger flecks of Fruity Pebbles to dot your balls, which we highly recommend, take it easy on them in the food processor. Place toppings in three separate bowls.

  8. One by one, roll the bourbon balls in your topping of choice to cover. Then eat!

Oh happy day!!!

xoxo

A Quick Overview of Sex Education In American Public Schools

Standard

Hi everyone!

Today I was wondering around The Hoffington Post and I came across an article by Rebecca Klein that covered the topic of what kind of sex education teens are getting and where they are getting it in the United States. I have to say this article was, although informative, very unnerving and ultimately very upsetting. It is no wonder we have the worst teen-pregnancy rate of all the developed countries.

When I was in high school, “Sex” education was provided via a video of the “medically correct” format which pregnancy is naturally started and summed up to the birth of a child. In other words the class was basically told this equation: Sperm + Egg + 9 or so months of hell = Baby. Literally that was the summation of my sex education in high school. You can probably find more information about sex in a Cosmo magazine, which I do not recommend any teen to read! After that informative video the class carried around a “flour baby” (Sack of flour with a smiley face) for a entire week… I don’t even know what to say to that?… Lack of school funding I guess? Anyway, the maps below provides where my country currently is on providing sex education to teens.

What was sex education like when you were in school? Is sex an uncomfortable topic for you to talk about? Do you know what a STD is?

Life is going to challenge you. It will stare you down and intimidate you. You may be afraid, you may want to shy away, you may want to give up, but deep down that’s not what you really want. Don’t ever feel like you don’t deserve the best. Stand up and challenge life right back. The climb might be long and difficult, but you are strong enough to face it and not back down. You are strong enough to make it to the end.

Los Angeles (CNN) — Kesha and Dr. Luke exchanged harsh accusations in lawsuits filed by the singer and producer Tuesday.

Kesha’s civil complaint filed in Los Angeles claims that Dr. Luke sexually, physically and verbally abused her over the 10 years since he signed her as an 18-year-old artist.

Dr. Luke’s lawsuit filed hours later in New York contends Kesha made up “outrageous and untrue statements” to extort him into releasing her from her recording contract with his label.

Her lawsuit demands that she be paid damages for suffering he caused and that her contract with Dr. Luke, whose real name is Lukasz Gottwald, be declared void because of the abuse.

Kesha, whose full name is Kesha Rose Sebert, was “an intelligent, family-oriented, and joyful young woman” before Dr. Luke “showered her with promises of fame and fortune” and induced her to sign a contract with him in 2005, her lawsuit said.

Instead of living a life of Hollywood glamor, she “lived in a prison of his abuse,” the lawsuit said.

Her complaint accuses him of giving her a “date rape drug” that allowed him to sexually assault her while she was unconscious.

He allegedly used constant verbal insults — such as calling her “a fat f–king refrigerator” — “to make her feel completely worthless and maintain complete control over her life.”

The abuse didn’t end after her debut album sold more than a million copies in the United States in 2010, her complaint said.

“For the past 10 years, Dr. Luke has sexually, physically, verbally and emotionally abused” her “to the point where Ms. Sebert nearly lost her life,” it said.

Kesha, 27, developed the eating disorder bulimia nervosa, which almost killed her, because of the continuous criticism about her weight by Dr. Luke, according to her complaint.

She entered a rehabilitation center to be treated for the disorder earlier this year, the lawsuit said.

Her doctors concluded that the “unrelenting emotional and psychological abuse” by Dr. Luke caused her to suffer “severe depression, post-traumatic stress, social isolation, and panic attacks.” Continuing contact with him “would be ‘life threatening,'” the lawsuit said.

Kesha’s lawyer Mark Geragos said her lawsuit “is a wholehearted effort by Kesha to regain control of her music career and her personal freedom after suffering for 10 years as a victim of mental manipulation, emotional abuse and sexual assault at the hands of Dr. Luke.”

“The facts presented in our lawsuit paint a picture of a man who is controlling and willing to commit horrible acts of abuse in an attempt to intimidate an impressionable, talented, young female artist into submission for his personal gain. Kesha is focused on moving her life and her career beyond this terrible time,” Geragos said.

Christine Lepera, the lawyer who filed the suit for Dr. Luke, said Kesha’s complaint “is nothing more than a continuation of her bad and offensive acts.”

“As set forth in the complaint that we have filed on behalf of Dr. Luke, Kesha and her mother are engaged in a campaign of publishing outrageous and untrue statements about Dr. Luke to third parties, including scurrilous and false statements of purported physical and mental abuse of Kesha,” Lepera said.

“We are confident that Dr. Luke will prevail in all matters, and that our client will be awarded substantial damages for this malicious conduct,” Lepera said.

Geragos said the singer is ready to put the past behind her.

“This is just another pathetic and entirely predictable example of Dr. Luke’s continued abuse, and a misguided attempt to keep Kesha under his tyrannical control,” Geragos said. “This lawsuit has absolutely no basis in fact, the law or reality. Kesha is focused on reclaiming her voice and her freedom. She is determined to move on with her life and her career by putting this dark period behind her.”
